Why I am embracing overwhelm instead of battling overwhelm.

Overwhelm
What does overwhelm mean? The Definition of overwhelm: to overpower the thoughts, emotions, or senses of.
Pretty sure womanhood, motherhood, homeschoolhood, and all the “hoods” combine together to overpower my life.
I have allowed the feelings of overwhelm to beat-up my mental psyche for the past few years. I felt like I was doing something wrong in life to always feel overwhelmed.
I have stopped looking for tips and tricks to do more in my day, to keep hustling, to get up earlier as though something exists to help me accomplish more in the battle of being overwhelm. I don’t have the power to change my husband’s health, diminish the needs of my kids, or quit my job and give up homeschooling.
I will never conquer being overwhelmed and I don’t want to battle anymore!
I will carry it differently.

I will embrace these emotions as part of my life with gratitude; no longer allowing it to defeat me.
I will battle the voice in my head that says just keep doing more!
It seems so backwards; I am convinced I will drown if I stop moving. There is so much that needs attention that stopping can’t possibly be helpful.
But the truth is…I can accomplish so much more after refreshment more then my grumbling troubled mind could before taking the moments to rest.
Trusting that rest will help. Oh me of little trust.
Overwhelm
Once a month I have and will put something on my calendar that is solely for allowing me to connect and seek refreshment.
It’s like when you read just exercise you will feel so much better afterwards. The same thing with allowing yourself to rest…you actually return ready to battle the trials of your life with a better frame of mind.
Even when I don’t feel that God is with me, often He is working on my behalf!
Because the one thing that is growing through all of this mess is me!
Do you struggle with being overwhelmed?
